“THAT GREAT DAY OF GOD ALMIGHTY”
Rev.16:12 “And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.
13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon”.
… 19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army” (Rev 16:12-16, 19:19)
“…That great day of God Almighty”.(Rev. 16:14)
In Rev. 16:14 that we quoted, the battle of Armageddon is referred to as “that great Day of God” or “the great day of the Lord”, It’s specific to us as to whose day it is.
It is not the day of man or some Nations etc. It is of the Lord. This is also very important. And again in verse 15, it “comes as a thief” We know thieves doesn’t come with trumpets and shouting, meaning this is not the coming Christ in what men called second coming that we cause every eye to see Him the way we have preached it, neither it’s the coming as per the Rapture for this coming as a thief is directly connected with the war of Armageddon.
Let us quickly look at the description of the Day of the Lord as revealed by the prophet Zephaniah…”
14 The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.
15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,
16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung”.(Zeph.1:14-18)
“The great day of the Lord… the mighty man shall cry there bitterly. That day is a day of wrath and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, a day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.
And I will bring distress upon men, and they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung. Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; but the whole land (of Babylon) shall be devoured by the fire of His jealousy” (Zeph 1:14-18).
Prophet Amos would cry out “Woe unto you that desire the day of the Lord! To what end is it for you?
The day of the Lord is darkness and not light. As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. Shall not the day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?” (Amos 5:18-20).
This day of the Lord is a time as prophesied by Isaiah when “the lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low… and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. And the idols He shall utterly abolish” (Isa 2:12-18).
It is a moment of turning things around, when those who seems high will be brought low, When the major shall be least, and least foremost; when the mighty shall become weak, and the meek and lowly become mighty. It is the day when the kingdoms of the world crumble and fall, and when God’s kingdom is established never to fall.
And Armageddon is the beginning of the overturning and the turning around of the global atmosphere, as things begins to shift into alignment with the kingdom of God: it is the battle of the great day of the Lord, when the Lord first comes in judgment upon the entire political, economic and ecclesiastical system of this present evil age… and He comes unexpectedly as a thief. This is when the system of Babylon, the church ridding on the back of political institutions, is destroyed unaware. This then is the day of the Lord.
So people! What we are seeing here as to the great day of the Lord, is when the Kingdom age is ushered in by the battle of Armageddon.
It’s a day that is reveled to destroy an unsuspecting world order and a faithless church system.’
Just as this great day of God brings in the hour of victory, triumph and freedom from bondage and fears for the elects of God, and for all the meek of the earth.
But for the faithless and unbelieving, who are not kingdom minded and have hope in something else other than the establishment of the kingdom of God on the Erath, the very reverse shall be the case for them. It will come to them as “a day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the dawn spread upon the mountains” (Joel 2:2).because they we stand to lose all they have worked and hoped for religiously and politically.
Let me quickly make this clarification of the difference between “the Day of the Lord” and “the Lord’s Day “as seen in
Rev. 1:10 “I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s Day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet”.
So John was in the Spirit on’ the Lord’s day’ not ‘the Day of the lord’ The day of the lord goes with judgment, but ‘the Lords day’ is when His enthronement is being commemorated. In the then Roman Empire, the Emperor’s Day was set aside to celebrate and commemorate when he ascended the throne. So for the Christian instead, of celebrating the Emperor’s Day, they have to celebrate ‘the Lord’s Day’.
And so John was in that day, the Lord’s Day.. John was made to see the glory that attended the Lord’s Day, His workings and reign .God was to show to John His reign and activities within this period of taking over from the Earthly kings, that the kingdoms of this world will become that of the lord’s and of His Christ.
He was made to see the activities spanning this period of time in human history.
Meaning you have to be in Spirit also in the Lord’s Day to be able decipher some of the codes in this Book. You must have to come into His day of enthronement.
Mind you, Jesus came back to seat on the throne his father David, as people seemingly are waiting for it in that which is called the ‘second coming’.

Acts.2:29 “ Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.
30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear
So, the release of the Holy Spirit was a clear indication that He is sitting on the throne of His Father David, equally termed the right hand of God. Now this was the Day John was In. what it means therefore was that, he was in the Spirit, in the Lord’s Day, and the plans and purposes of God in Christ were revealed to him which is this Book of Revelation. The revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave to Him to show unto His servants… (Christ).
