“TWO MEN”

In Acts.1: 9 we read. “And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and A CLOUD received him out of their sight.

10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;

Another interesting point I wants to raise in this passage in question is that of the two men. The common understanding is, these were angels that spoke to the disciples not to gaze into the sky, for that same Jesus will come in like manner as they saw him go.

But the question is, is it really true that these were angels as we know angels to be? The word didn’t say they were two angels but ‘TWO MEN’.

So who were these two men?

And why were they observing all that was going on?

Were they interested in the ministry of Jesus and if so why?

The key to understanding and to know who these two men were is to look at the author, Luke, who spoke about these two men if he did elsewhere and in what relationship.

The Transfiguration.

In Luke account of Jesus transfiguration we are told. Luke 9:

29 “And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.

30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:

31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease, which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.

32 But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him”.

Now verse 30-31, is the key,

“Behold, there talked with him TWO MEN, which were MOSES and ElIAS”: Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease (death) which he should accomplish at Jerusalem”.

There you have it; the two men were Moses and Elijah, the Law and the Prophet.

Like Paul would say

Rom.3: 21 “ But now the righteousness of God (Christ) without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law (Moses) and the prophets (Elijah)”.

Here are the two men, Moses and Elijah, and what were they discussing?

Jesus Death at Jerusalem.

Why the need for that?

Firstly Jesus saw the agony He was going to pass through in Jerusalem, so they came to strengthen Him to be able to go.

Moses would say ‘Jesus, we the Law wrote about you, that you are the sacrifice (Lamb of God) that takes away the sin of the world, if you fail go to the cross, then our testimony has fallen to the ground’. Elijah would say, ‘we the prophets spoke about your death and your resurrection. If you don’t make it to the cross then we are all liars’.

This then was the matter at hand for the three of them.

And so by the time He went to the cross, died and was buried. These two men were there to still protect His body, that being their testimony lying down there.

And so we read in John 20:11-16

“11 But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

12 And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.

13 And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

14 And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

15 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master”

Vere 12..”(Mary) seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain…

John called them angels, because of the brightness of the glory they exhited. But these were actually still Moses and Elijah fully positioned like the two cherubim on top of the Ark where the Glory of God was.

Jesus is the Glory of God. (Heb. 1:3)

Verse 14 “And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing”

Instantly Jesus appear in a glorified body behind her…

The three men are here present just like at the mount of transfiguration.

Mary could not recognize Jesus, because the word says know we no man after the flesh, even though we have thus known Christ.(2 Cor.5:16)

Meaning even if Christ should appear to us today, we can’t know Him, because he has changed and can take any form to appear to you depending on what He wants to talk to you about.

Like “He appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country” (Mark.16:12).

In other words, should Jesus appear today ,with our expectations of Him, we will not recognize Him, for the only Jesus we know is the one we have seen in films and calendars in our homes.

But that’s not the resurrected Glorified Jesus.

The only way we can truly know Jesus is through His voice. Why? Because every of His sheep will “..know his voice …” (John.10:4-5).And only as He is revealed to you by the son. . (Math.11:27).

God is not known by miracle but through His voice , like Adam in the Garden.

Miracles are his acts for a purpose.

And finally we come back to our text…

Acts.1: 10 And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven?”

So now you see who these two men were? Moses and Elijah!

They were to give voice to their testimony. Is like saying you people ought to have understood that this Jesus we talked and wrote to you people about has finally vindicated us as the law and the Prophet by his final ascension into glory.

The major interesting thing about these two men ministry is the fact that, your dropping this flesh is not the end of your ministry.

Whatever and the level of what you know in this life will determine your placement and the access you can have in the spirit realm to move in and out to still bear witness to those within the body of Christ, the cloud of witnesses. They are now moving on with glorified Bodies.

For (19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable”(1 Cor.15:19)

John was to worship the angel that gave him the testimony of the Book of Revelation. Hear what he told him

“Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God” (Rev.22:9).

Meaning this person should have been a prophet or in ministry in his life time.

Jesus moved in and out of the spirit realm that demonstrates the life of the interface that we ought to have, like Adam, the son of God and son of man realm of existence.

But you can’t say such in Christendom, you will be labeled an occult man, without knowing that we are truly living below the glory that the father has for us as believers.

Men talk of astral travel, and you say it’s demonic. Tell me if the devil ever has originality. He copies the real thing hence he is deceiver.

I don’t know what definition we settle for now when we will talk of the supernatural.

Only miracles right! Some Apostles don’t even believe that, that exist anymore.

So our Christianity is nothing but a bunch of Christian philosophers like Socrates and co.

See Jesus having conversation with men from other realms of life, Peter, James and John saw them. Men who were out of this world long before Jesus and the Apostles were born.

Yet we say He is the first Born among many brethren.

You can’t even dream. If you do, then must go for deliverance .I wonder how Joseph knew he was going to be in charge before he ever went to Egypt.

Let this be known to us that we are yet to scratch the surface of what the father has in mind for His people. Running out of this life because of a suppose antichrist is a clear indication of the level of ignorance that we are into.

Ask me if Jesus would have asked the Father to take Him away because there was a 666 or a one world government. We just need to wake up and stop embarrassing our Father who runs the universal…

“Ye men of Galilee”, who were they?

Why was the address to them?

That will be next.

To be continued…
