Rev. 16:12-16.
“And the sixth Angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue ARMAGEDDON…
19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army” (Rev 16:12-16, 19:19)
“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John”.. I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. (Rev.1:1,18.)(KJV)
Like we indicated in part 1 of this series, this Book is about the revelation of a person and not just an event. Not just a historical account of one man that lived and died, but never rose again. But rather it is about the man that lives forever therefore, his words lives forever to all ages past and even future.
The one thing that I would like you want to take note of here is that, the book of Revelation is entirely a book of symbols
“Rev.1: 1 ¶ The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John”
We are told the message was communicated by way of symbols –“Signified”
So basically what is set forth here in symbolic language is about the ages-long struggle between truth and error, righteousness and unrighteousness, flesh and spirit, light and darkness, the Lamb and the Dragon, Christ and Antichrist, the present evil world system and the kingdom of God.
Therefore, on the negative side , you have symbols like the “beast”, “dragon”, “false prophet”, “Babylon”, “harlot”, “unclean spirits”, “frogs”, etc.;
Whereas on the positive side, you have the “Lamb”, “bride”, “holy city”, “overcomers”, “manchild”, “144,000”, and others.
In the same vein “Armageddon” should be seen as just one of those symbols used in this book.
And this therefore must be seen to be symbolic of the great and final struggle with which the present age ends, while the kingdom of Christ rises victoriously over all enemies, establishing world-wide righteousness and peace.
For instance we read about Jesus in
Rev.19: 11 “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war”
So, are we expecting a physical Jesus cascading from the sky on a literal white horse? .It is funny how men we tell you that they believe this book to be literal. And if that is so, then their Jesus is far behind time. Because while mortal man has gone far ahead using even speed train etc. , and with powerful machines and missiles in the execution of their warfare.
The Jesus of the church is still using horses and swords.
But then you say, it’s not literal, so how are you expecting a physical literal Armageddon to be fought with modern weapons.
That is the problem. Can you see it? Some of us even read the Book as if it runs serially, from chapter to Chapter and so found their fulfillment sequentially in the same way. No sir, it ought not to be so either.
Therefore, when we consider the battle of Armageddon, we are not to expect any gathering of the nation’s literally to the hill of Megiddo. Rather we are to look for that which is symbolized by that place, with the understanding that the place is representative symbolically of those CONDITIONS and CIRCUMSTANCES, which shall prevail, in the political, economic and spiritual realms to bring this present evil age to a close.
This is what you must take note of, when reading this Book and considering what the war of Armageddon really is.
Now reading Rev.16:14-16, 14 “For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame”.
16 And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.”
Here we see that “the Great Day of God Almighty” is the same thing as “Armageddon”?
Did you notice that?
So the war is that which is fought against God and not just some Nations or even against Israel fighting themselves in the old spot of Megiddo around the River Euphrates.
So what is the ‘Great Day of the Lord God Almighty’?
That will be the next thing…
To be continued…
