Daniel 12:1 ”And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book”

For those of us who found it difficult to accept this simple fact that Jesus has the ministry of an angel look at this;

Revelation 10:1 & 2 “And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth”

Now tell me who else has the rainbow on his head in the Bible if not Jesus.

What is the Rainbow?

Isn’t that the covenant God made after the flood? Genesis 9:13-16

13.I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.

14.And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:

15.And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

16.And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth

Was the covenant that the Father was prefiguring not Jesus Christ? Was God going to look on an empty space to find a Rainbow to save mankind or the blood of Jesus? Where else will you find the Rainbow? In Revelation 4:3, round about the throne. Isn’t the Rainbow therefore the glory of God that surrounds the throne of mercy?

The shinning face of this angel, isn’t it what Jesus manifested on the mount of transfiguration in Matthew 17:1-3?

What of “his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth” Isn’t this Jesus conquering mankind and our Adamic nature?

The sea; Revelation 17:15 “And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues”

Isn’t the Earth the Adamic life? For as we have borne the image of the earthy we shall bear the image of the heavenly.

Isn’t putting your foot upon the neck of your enemy speaking of victory over the enemy? Haven’t we read that all enemies shall be brought under the feet of Jesus?

What kind of Angel can be so huge to have one leg on the earth and one leg on the sea? Which sea is it referring to, Atlantic Ocean or Indian ocean?

Can’t you see that this is describing the conquering power of the risen Christ and yet He is called an Angel?

Please let’s doubt our doubts and believe God in His word. Even the seven pastors of the seven churches in Asia were called ANGELS though they were human beings (Revelation 1:20).

So friends this mighty angel is Jesus Christ Himself.

So again, we state that this Angel Daniel 12:1 “…Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people” is the Christ of God with his protection over the nation of Israel in particular

Prince= rs sar, sar a head person (of any rank or class):–captain (that had rule), chief

And so, in

Daniel 10:20-22, the word says.

20.Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.

21.But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.

Verse 20; “to fight with the king of Persia” What was the fight? It was merely to remove all the doubts of Cyrus, and to excite him to do all that God designs him to do for the restoration of Daniel’s people the Jews, and the rebuilding of the city and temple of Jerusalem. Nothing less than a supernatural agency in the mind of Cyrus can account for his decree in favour of the Jews. He had no natural, no political inclination to it; and his reluctance to obey the heavenly motions is here represented as a fight between him and the angel.

While “the prince of Grecia shall come” refers to Alexander the Great, who was to destroy the Persian empire later on.

Before dealing with Jude 9, let us quickly deal with the issue of Revelation 12:7;

“And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels”

“There was war in heaven”

If you take time to study the Rabbical write ups, you will clearly see that this is dealing with the same concept of what happened in Exodus 14:7 & 27;

7And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them… 27And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea”

It is evident that the man child of Revelation 12 speaks historically of the church that was born during the Roman Empire. We know this, because when Jesus was comforting the disciples with the Promise of the Holy spirit he told them;

John 16:20-22, 20Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. 21A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. 22And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you”

So the release of the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost gave birth to the man-child, “that a man is born into the world “

Just like the Church was his first born in Egypt. Even so the man child during the Roman Empire.

“There was war among those above and among those below, and there was great war in heaven.”

Again, in Revelation 12:7 “And there was war in heaven”

The war in heaven in here was simply an allusion to the throne of the Roman empire, the consequent of which was the breaking out of civil commotions among the governors of this empire.

“Michael and his angels fought against the dragon”

Michael was the man child, being the Christ in the midst of his people which the woman brought forth, as is evident from the context, was therefore, the dynasty of Christian Roman emperors. This dynasty is represented by Michael, because he is “the great prince which standeth for the children of God’s people.”

As seen in Daniel 12:1, “And the dragon fought and his angels”

Here then are his ministers.

Next will be;

Jude 1:9 “Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee”.
