Matt. 24:3, “And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱❞
In order to round up this discussion, let me quickly take a look at this pertinent question sent to me on the verses of scripture below;
Heb. 9: 26, “For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:
28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘 without sin unto salvation.”
Amp. Heb. 9:28, “Even so it is that Christ, having been offered to take upon Himself and bear as a burden the sins of many once and once for all,”𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗶𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗶𝗻, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 [𝗲𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗹𝘆, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆] 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝗺.❞
The question is 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤 𝙬𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 by 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 In other words, is this not the issue of the second coming as we commonly believed? Well the answer is No! This has nothing to do with what is commonly believed as the second coming of Christ. The word used here is SECOND TIME.
The question first should be 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝑰𝑹𝑺𝑻 𝑻𝑰𝑴𝑬Then again, this second time is not to deal with sin but for our salvation. But I thought we are saved people. So what salvation is He coming for, since its not to deal with sin?
Now let us quickly look at the first part of this question. 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗛𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲?
Please let it be noted that His first appearing was NOT when He manifested as Jesus, the Son of God through the virgin birth.
That’s not what this passage is all about. Understand that the whole of Hebrew, Chapter 9, is dealing with the priesthood ministry of Jesus as compared to the Levitical Priesthood.
So when was the first appearing? It is right there in verse 24;
Amp. Heb 9:24, “For Christ (the Messiah) has not entered into a sanctuary made with [human] hands, only a copy and pattern and type of the true one, but [He has entered] into heaven itself, now 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 [𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲] 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐟.❞
What was that? This was His appearing before the throne—Most Holy—place of the Father in the function of a PRIEST to present the Blood of Sacrifice on our behalf in order to proclaim that our sins are forgiven as the Blood of Sacrifice is accepted.
This is what He meant when He answered Mary after He rose from the grave and Mary thought He was one of the keepers of the cemetery and she requested that she be told where they have laid the Lord. Jesus called to her, “Mary!” And instantly she recognized Him through the Voice that He was the Lord and attempted to touch Him, but Jesus objected and said;
John 20:17, ❞𝙅𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙨 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙢𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩; 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙮𝙚𝙩 𝙖𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙁𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧: 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙜𝙤 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙣, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙖𝙮 𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢, 𝙄 𝙖𝙨𝙘𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙁𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙁𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧; 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙂𝙤𝙙, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙂𝙤𝙙.❞
What He meant in saying this to Mary was simply that 𝙄 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙮𝙚𝙩 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙪𝙩𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙮 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙖𝙘𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙧𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙨 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙗𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮. I must let the Father see the Blood (sprinkling in the Most Holy Place) as a priest so that you and the rest of mankind can be blessed.
And guess what? That same day the brethren touched Him when He appeared before them with the doors shut (Luke 24:36-40).
