Matt. 24:3, “And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be ”𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱❞

“…and the elements shall melt with fervent heat,.𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽,❞𝟮𝗣𝗲𝘁. 𝟯:𝟭𝟬.

From the above verse, people assumed that what Peter meant is that one day God is going to burn up the planet earth with fire unlike what He did in the day of Noah using water. 𝘽𝙪𝙩 𝙪𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙪𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙 𝙃𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙢𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙪𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙗𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙃𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙮𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 (𝙂𝙚𝙣. 9:13-16) after Noah offered Him a sacrifice coming from the flood and even made a vow;

Gen. 8:12:22, “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” And in Rev. 11:18 we are told, ”…them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.”

Now one of the ways we often see God is that He is a 𝗛𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 ❞𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲.❞ 𝗛𝗲𝗯. 𝟭𝟮: 𝟮𝟵, “For our God is a consuming fire.” But what is it that He is really consuming, the earth or human beings?

Let me give you another translation of this same passage so as to keep your theology right and not pervert the way of truth and the righteous God (“29 For our God is a consuming fire”);

Heb. 12:25, “So don’t turn a deaf ear to these gracious words. If those who ignored earthly warnings didn’t get away with it, what will happen to us if we turn our backs on heavenly warnings? 26 His voice that time shook the earth to its foundations; this time — he’s told us this quite plainly — he’ll also rock the heavens: “One last shaking, from top to bottom, stem to stern.” 27 The phrase “one last shaking” means a thorough housecleaning,.𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝗻𝗸 𝘀𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱.

28 Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. 29 𝗛𝗲❜𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲, 𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗻❜𝘁 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗶𝘁❜𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗱. 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗶𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲❞ 𝗠𝘀𝗴.

Can you see it? What is being shaken and burnt up? It is simply 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙅𝙚𝙬𝙞𝙨𝙝 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙙𝙤𝙢 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙨, 𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙧𝙞𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙟𝙪𝙣𝙠 so we can step into the real kingdom of God that His son came to establish.

These are the things He is consuming with His truth and light being sent out from the mouth of His messengers. All these things were accomplished once the Jewish religion was fully exterminated by the Roman invasion. It wasn’t the earth that He came to exterminate but the Jewish religious rituals, even through the appearance of the Christ through His death, burial and resurrection with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

𝙎𝙤 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙩𝙤 ❞𝙗𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙪𝙥❞ (2𝙋𝙚𝙩. 3:10).

The word “burned up” is from two Greek words, “kata” – down, and “kaio”-to set on fire; i.e, kindle or (by implication) consume, bring light.

And these two words put together is “katakaio” (2Pet. 3:10) which means to burn down (to the ground); i.e, consume wholly – burn (up, utterly).

Similarly, the word used in Heb. 6:8 is “kausis” … burning (the act) be burned. Now, is this not what Jesus said in 𝙇𝙪𝙠𝙚 12:49, ❞𝙄 𝙖𝙢 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝, (𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙) 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙄, 𝙞𝙛 𝙞𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙡𝙚𝙙❞

And what was the fire He came to set on the earth? The message of truth which causes divisions between father and son, mother in-law and daughter in-law, etc. This is the separation of the wheat and the tares through the mental perception of truth and error by the revelation of spiritual truth.

Are we surprised there is so much division within the Body today? We shouldn’t be surprised because it is resulting from the various shades of the handling of the Word of God. And those who stand for the truth are mostly labeled as heretic or false teachers.

The fire is truly burning, and the good news is that a lot of the chaff of religious errors and deception are being burnt up. Praise the Lord!
