It used to be a battle between either Law or Grace, but now it’s “Western” or “African.”

(1) The “Western Gospel” speaks of prosperity and motivational speaking.

With this you may or may not need to add or use scriptures. Here you don’t have ethics, and it’s mostly in the hands of celebrities.

What counts here is your bank account. Jesus, to an extent, is also missing. For motivationally you don’t need Jesus or God to succeed.

(2) The “African Brand” is that of African Traditional religion made up of occultism and demonology. Here you substantiate your message with mostly OT scriptures like Exo. 20:5.

In this gospel, only the poor needs deliverance, because the rich has imbibed the Western Gospel and are rich on their own; demons are afraid of them.

So you go to such deliverance services and only the poor are the ones rolling on the floor like snakes while the rich are comfortably occupying the front rows, sometimes being made elders and deacons; yet they can’t open to John 3:16 in their Bible, even if they were given one.

What qualifies them is their wallet. They are the first to be called up when not in service, as the Pastor has their phone numbers but not those with demons.

(3) Then gradually today we are having the Gospel of the “Prophetic Cults.”

Here for you to be among the popular names you have to be endorsed by a popular global prophet or ministry.

What qualifies you here is the ability to foretell, see visions, and tell people about their grandfather and how they died, etc., not minding from which source the prophecy is coming.

Even if you have to wash your eyes by a traditional herbalist, it makes no difference. This also is becoming more of an African mainstream gospel.

Hear this. Isa 8:19,

“When people tell you, “Try out the fortunetellers.Consult the spiritualists. Why not tap into the spirit-world, get in touch with the dead?” 20 Tell them, “No, we’re going to study the Scriptures. “People who try the other ways get nowhere — a dead end!” Msg.

Ampl., Isa. 8:19,

“And when the people [instead of putting their trust in God] shall say to you, Consult for direction mediums and wizards who chirp and mutter, should not a people seek and consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living? 20 [Direct such people] to the teaching and to the testimony! If their teachings are not in accord with this word, it is surely because there is no dawn and no morning for them.”

Isa. 8:19 KJV,

“19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”

But where be the Gospel of Jesus Christ?
