Rev. 20:1, “And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.”

What Then Is The Bottomless Pit?

Ans. Though some translations use the word “abyss,” the word “Bottomless” in simple terms means ‘that which has no foundation, no ground’. If something is a pit then it ought to have a bottom.

But once it is bottomless then it can no longer be regarded as a pit, because it will be a system that has no end to it if you drop or throw in an object.

And since it’s no longer a pit in the sense of what a hole should look like, then this isn’t an ordinary hole or pit anywhere in creation or in eternity.

And in the scriptures there is only one place we are told that you can find GROUND or FOUNDATION ON and that is The Church. See it here;

1 Tim. 3: 14, “These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: 15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.”

If the Church is the only place where you can find truth, what then should be the Bottomless Pit? Look at this;

2Thes. 2:2, “That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”

Matt. 24:12, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

2 Tim 3:1, “You may as well know this too, Timothy, that in the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money; they will be proud and boastful, sneering at God, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful to them, and thoroughly bad. 3 They will be hardheaded and never give in to others; they will be constant liars and troublemakers and will think nothing of immorality. They will be rough and cruel, and sneer at those who try to be good. 4 They will betray their friends; they will be hotheaded, puffed up with pride, and prefer good times to worshiping God. 5 They will go to church, yes, but they won’t really believe anything they hear. Don’t be taken in by people like that,” TLB.

The “Bottomless Pit” is simply the continuous falling away without end of the workers of evil through the deception of Satan in religious circles, to which Rome was the head-dragon that was bound through the revelation of Luther in (1517AD)– “The just shall live by faith” in addition to the literal binding of the political Empire of Rome that was supposed to rule over the world.

In Ps. 103 we are told, “13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are DUST.”

And the curse on the serpent was in Gen. 3:14, “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and DUST SHALT THOU EAT all the days of thy life.”

But we know that serpents don’t eat dust; they feast on proteins like frogs, etc. So you see, by reason of the fall man-DUST became the food for the serpent by way of deception in every man’s soul, etc.

So prophetically speaking at the fullness of time when man, which is the ground-dust-food for the serpent, should have been liberated by the truth coming from the Church (the revelation of the Christ who is the Truth) and by the putting on of the divine nature of God which is gold (2 Pet. 1:2-4), then Satan would have no ground to stand upon-Bottomless- for his works of deception as he was not permitted to eat gold.

So the revelation of Christ in and through us is what binds Satan and sets men free from the chains of religious activities of self-righteousness.

Rev. 3:9, “Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.”

The truth, we are told, shall set you free. Once you began to walk in the Truth, then Satan was bound from your life. No more bottomless foundation for him to stand upon. His deceptions has ended.

Again, we state that this is not futuristic or a tomorrow’s event, but ongoing as from when the truth of the Christ came forth by way of His resurrection.
