Rev. 20: 12 “…ANOTHER BOOK was opened, which is the BOOK OF LIFE: and the dead were JUDGED out of those things which were written in THE BOOKS, according to their works.” “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in THE BOOK OF THE LIFE OF THE LAMB slain from the foundation of the world” (Rev. 13:8).
HOW WAS AND IS THIS THE BOOK WRITTEN?
Talking of this Book of life which we are discussing, let us quickly take a look at a particular yet vital scripture, though casually read by everyone but yet the very epitome of God’s ideal man that He intends to reveal to creation.
“Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion,” Gen. 1:26.
This is God’s mind for you to reveal the invisible God to the visible creation. When He said “let us make man,” that was the crowning work of all His creation after everything has been created. Though it was the last of His creation yet it was the most important of His creation.
Ordinarily you can’t figure out God who is invisible, spirit and immortal. You can’t truly know His nature except as it was revealed in the Son. His incomprehensibility lies in His shapelessness;
“Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me,” Isa. 43:10.
And the formation of God is when He takes shape in the man He has created. So we read of Jesus; Phil. 2:6,
“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God,” KJV.
This shaping of God is to enable the invisible God to express Himself, His nature, through man to the created visible world. Meaning man in God’s image is the revelation of the invisible God.
This is why Gen. 1:26 is so vitally important and the scripture that reveals to you your real you in the hand of God. Above all and most importantly, man in God’s image was the government of God established over all things in the heavens and in the earth.
Please understand this fact, in the words of J. Preston Eby on this matter;
“The government of God over the material creation, including all life forms, was the image of God in man. Thus man was the connecting link between the invisible and unknowable God and the visible creation. Man as God’s image was the revelation of the invisible God to the visible world. Jesus Christ, the last Adam, is the express image of God’s person and in Him you are the image of God, the government of God, the revelation of God, the Book of the Life of the Lamb to be known and read of all men and every creature everywhere.” Praise the Lord!
So you see beloved you are not just a nonessential material in God’s ultimate agenda. You are all that He has in mind to make Himself known to creation. You are His capstone.
As concerning Jesus Christ as we stated earlier on, the Word says,
“Lo, I come (in the VOLUME OF THE BOOK it is written of me) to do Your will, O God,” (Heb.10:7) Even though this Word refers to Jesus, don’t forget that He is the firstborn among many brethren and the head of His Body, the Church. Meaning whatever He represents is what the Body (you) is (are) and should be.
So it is seen that Heb. 10:7 was taken from Ps. 40:7, which stands to reason that the “volume of the Book” referred to was written long way back before the Psalms.
And that essentially is the fact that Gen. 1:26-27 is man in God’s image to rule in His stead on the face of the earth. This Book of Life of the living is about you people of God.
