Math.11:12 ” And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force”
What’s this kingdom violence, someone asked me. Well this is nothing to do with violent prayers to possess your possession through night vigils and fasting and prayers. Or carrying matchets and brooms to cut the enemies down and have them swept away for hindering your finances.
Jesus only meant to say right from the days of John the Baptist, people have come to know and are seeing the glory, peace and joy of the kingdom of God and they are forcing their way into it unlike the Pharisees who can’t see or understand what it’s all about .
The picture is like when a Shepherd in Israel opens the door for the sheep to go and graze, you find that all will want to be coming out at the same time. That is pressing their way out into the open field to eat grass.
That’s the sense of the violence.Men are moving in droves into the kingdom who have come to understand and know the value and the state of the kingdom of God that Jesus revealed and established .
Comparing the same narrative in Luk 16:16 the word says
“The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it”
NIV.Luke 16:16 “The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the good news of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone is forcing his way into it.
NLT.Luke 16:16 “Until John the Baptist, the law of Moses and the messages of the prophets were your guides. But now the Good News of the Kingdom of God is preached, and everyone is eager to get in”.
Ampl. Luke 16:16 Until John came, there were the Law and the Prophets; since then the good news (the Gospel) of the kingdom of God is being preached, and everyone strives violently to go in [would force his own way rather than God’s way into it].
So it has has nothing to do with men fighting demons to let them have their possessions in anyway. It’s not a warfar scripture or passage. It’s about the revelation of the kingdom and its impact in the lives of people causing them to desire with the sincerity of heart to get into it.
