Am doing this as a repost with tears in my eyes as I listened half way to a video that was sent to me today wherein one of the renowned ministers of the gospel (name withheld) in the world today with large followership was telling the people how they must press in for the rapture, which will soon take place as their only hope, and that the Lord has promised them a mansion each to stay in once they get to heaven so they should rejoice. I am dumbfounded, and feel so sad for this high level of deception in high places within His body.

God, I pray that you deliver your own at this time of gross ignorant of your will and purposes.

What is a house? How does the Bible apply this term? What did Jesus really mean by “My Father’s house? John 14:1-2.

John 14:2 “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also”

What was Jesus promising the disciples, a physical building in heaven? If so, why is it taking Him many years to finish since He made these promise two thousand years ago? Is the construction work still ongoing and if not why?

A house and a mansion which is bigger? A mansion of course! So why would Jesus be stating the opposite, knowing you can’t have many mansions in a house?

Firstly, the word House in the Hebrew is BAYITH” – a house (in the greater var. of applications

spec. Family, etc.), Temple.

And in the Greek, it is ‘OIKIA’. An abode, by implication. A FAMILY (spec. DOMESTIC) home, house (hold).

The Noun form of ‘OIKIA’ is OIKIAKOS and it means familiar i.e., RELATIVES – they (them) of (his own) household.

So, when we talk of a house scripturally speaking, we are referring to a realm of existence, a family that is made up of individuals who are close to one another, and not necessarily a physical building. Even though it can be used for a physical building in certain places.

Look at this.

‘ABRAHAM’S FATHER’S HOUSE’. Abraham, when talking to his servant to go and get a wife for his son Isaac, from among his people said “The Lord God of Heaven, which took me from ‘MY FATHER’S HOUSE’ and from the land of my kindred… thou shalt go and take a wife unto my son from thence “Genesis 24:1–7, KJV.

“…the Lord who brought me out of ‘My father’s household’ and my native land…” NIV.

“…the Lord who brought me from THE HOME OF MY FATHER and the land of my RELATIVES…” NCV.

Is it not clear from the above, that Abraham’s Father’s House was his immediate family, from amongst whom God called him? He was not just talking about his Father’s physical building. By implication, God did not call him from his Father’s physical building but from amongst his relatives.

Similarly, Joseph had a Father’s House… and see that ‘JOSEPH’S FATHER’S HOUSE’ was his brothers who went to him in Egypt.

“And Joseph said unto his brethren, and unto his father’s house, I will go up, and shew Pharaoh, and say unto him, MY BRETHREN, AND MY FATHER’S HOUSE, WHICH WERE IN THE LAND OF CANAAN, are come unto me”. Genesis 46:31.

“…My brothers and my FATHER’S FAMILY… have come to me” NCV.

Genesis 50:22, “And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father’s house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.”

It was not a physical building that went to Joseph in Egypt but his relatives.

“…and so, Joseph continued to live in Egypt with ALL HIS FATHER’S FAMILY…” Genesis 50:22 NCV.

Joshua saved RAHAB’S FATHER’S HOUSE, which were her RELATIVES for showing kindness to the spies that were sent to Jericho. Joshua 2:1,12,18; 6:25.

“Joshua saved Rahab the prostitute, her FAMILY (father’s house) and all who were with her…” NCV.

Gideon had a FATHER’S HOUSE.

“…Oh, my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? Behold, my ‘family’ is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in” My father’s house…” Judges 6:15 KJV

Moses was nourished up in his father’s house three Months. Acts 7:20.

Friend, notice that the phrase “father’s house” means nothing more than a person’s relative.

David’s Father’s house was his relative that went to him at the cave Adullam. I Samuel 22:1.

Father’s House means relatives, family not a building up there in the sky

So, what was Jesus’ Father’s house?  See it here;

1 Timothy 3:15 “But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth”

Who are the relations? The Christians (Hebrews 3:1-6).

The mansions are the dwelling places, rooms where God lives by the Spirit.

Ephesians 2:21 21In whom all the building, rightly joined together, comes to be a holy house of God in the Lord; 22In whom you, with the rest, are united together as a living-place of God in the Spirit”

Jesus didn’t promise you a building when you die.

The mansions got finished on the Day of Pentecost when God started dwelling in man by the Spirit.

Let’s wake up Church!
