Rev. 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Elsewhere, I have fully explained this in this space.

But just a simple guide for those asking me questions on these issues.

I want my readers to take note of similar languages in Isaiah 19:1 and Nahum 1:3,

Isaiah 19:1 The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon A SWIFT CLOUD, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it. 2 And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom”

Nahum 1:1 The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.

2 God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.

3 The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm and the CLOUDS ARE THE DUST OF HIS FEET”

Did the Lord literally “ride upon a swift cloud”, or were the clouds literally “the dust of His feet”, as if the Lord was literally surfing on the clouds”? No!

This was simply His coming in judgment to Egypt and Nineveh

COMING IN CLOUDS

was simply an idiomatic, prophetic and poetic terminology used to describe the coming judgment upon a land or people group.

We have to interpret scriptures mentioning Jesus riding/coming on clouds in the gospels in the same manner.

So when the High Priest was questioning Jesus and based on His reply we are told;

Matt. 26:63 “But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.

64 Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and COMING IN THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN”

Now this fulfills Dan. 7:13

“I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed”

But you see the “clouds of Heaven” with which Jesus rode into Jerusalem in AD 70 was the Roma Armies.

So The terminology “coming on clouds” or “riding on clouds” is a Jewish idiomatic language which denotes the Lord’s judgments and wrath being released, as well as His salvation and deliverance.

So when you read in Rev. 1:7

“Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him:..”

This is not talking of Jesus coming in the empty space in what the church calls last days to take His people home. But rather this is the judgment to came to Jerusalem in AD 70 taken from the prophecy of Zech. 12:10;

“And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn”

Those who pierced Him were the Jews who now received the spirit of supplication to which they now see that Jesus is truly the Son of God ,whom they killed Acts.2: 23

“Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:”

This is simply how He comes in clouds and the next phase of His coming in Clouds is as seen in Jude 14

“And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints (clouds of witnesses. Heb. 12:1),

15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince that entire are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him”

Jesus is not coming in the Empty space above the sky but through a people and it has always been so from time immemorial. Lord come quickly!
