Mathew. 5: 8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Jesus meant what he said and it was a promise to a people right then and now that was and is realisable.

What does it mean to see God then?

Pure in heart. To the religious Jewish Pharisees, purification to see God is centered on outward purity of diverse washing, and cleansings etc On this ground of which they were expecting to see God, and to enjoy eternal glory: yet their hearts were full of corruption and defilement.

“To see God” is a Hebrew idiom, which signifies, to possess God, enjoy his love, as seeing a thing, was used among the Hebrews for possessing it.

For instance, in John 3:16. It is said, He that believeth not the Son, shall not SEE life, i. e shall not be put in possession of eternal glory.

It therefore follows that to see God, is basically to possess His salvation, deliverance and restoration of God’s Glory in our lives. The restoration from the realms of decay, from the realm of spiritual, finance, material poverty that we have been subjected to in Adam before the sacrifice of Christ. We have to serve God with a pure heart as purified by the blood of Jesus instead of outward religious activities. With the pure heart, or true worship, we now have access into the presence of God as it was in the sanctuary.

So what does it mean to be pure in heart?

It is simply to retain the knowledge of God in our heart and to make sure we do not turn away from pure thoughts all the time to see idols. This is a heart that is not mixed with anything else except God. A heart that is free from anything that might lower the quality of God’s life within us. A purified heart means to have a singleness of purpose.

Let me here state that, if you have more than one main purpose in life other than seeking the kingdom first, then your heart is not pure. It is the heart that will say it like this; “Though you slay me, yet I will trust in Him”, Job 13:15. A pure heart recognizes no evil, material provisions, nor will allow possession to affect his love towards the Father and mankind. That alone is the pure heart that can see God.

You don’t have to die and go to heaven up in the sky to see God. You can see Him now.

Again no man can see God and live, meaning the day you see God , you die to your old self of self-arrogance, pride, unhealthy self-esteem in life. etc Have you seen God?

Selah!
